Rokah Haaretz Al Hamayim

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe,
Who spreads the earth over and above the water.

On the third day of creation, Hashem did command,
All the waters to gather to form dry land,
Seas and oceans did appear,
From floods we usually don't have to fear.

Under the earth's surface water did remain,
Fresh water from wells and springs we can obtain,
Earth and rocks are heavier than water it's true,
For not making us sink, Hashem, we thank you!

Over and above the waters, earth Hashem does spread,
Before we step outside each day, this blessing is said,
For allowing us to live on dry land, Hashem is so kind,
Our gratitude to our creator, is always on our mind.

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe,
Who straightens those who are stooped.

Some animals are tame, others roar,
But legs, they all have four,
Their heads are bowed as they roam around,
They usually look towards the ground.

But Hashem created humans in a different way,
We can stand upright every day,
The bowed, Hashem does raise,
When we get up in the morning, Hashem we praise.

We need to "walk upright" in our daily conduct too,
And remember that we have a mission to do,
We can always look to the sky,
Hashem is watching us from on high.

Hashem raises those that are emotionally bowed down,
Because of their burdens, they feel they are about to drown,
Worry and anxiety may surround,
But Hashem can turn it all around.

Blessed are you G-d, King of the universe, who releases the bound

When we are sleeping peacefully,
To control our movements we aren't free,
Thank you Hashem for releasing the bound,
When we wake up, we are free to move around!

Sometimes we feel like we are stuck in a hole,
In a situation we feel we can't control,
We ask Hashem, our chains to remove,
So that our lives we can improve.

So if you have a bad habit that gets in your way,
You can ask Hashem to help you break it today,
To our chains, Hashem has the key,
We just have to really want to be free.

Blessed are you G-d, King of the universe, who clothes the naked

"What should I wear?"
About our clothes we care,
"What will poeople say,
If I dress this way?"

While getting dressed we must keep in mind,
That Hashem provides the clothes we find,
"Thank you for clothing the naked," we say,
We thank Hashem for our clothing every day.

We thank Hashem for providing clothes for our Souls too,
By giving us Mitzvot that we can do,
Mitzvot are performed with thoughts, words and deeds,
These are the garments that every Soul needs.

When we give clothes to the poor,
This is one way we can be sure,
That our Souls will be dressed,
With Spiritual clothes that are the best!"

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe,
Who opens the eyes of the blind.

Imagine how life might be,
For a person that can not see,
When we are sleeping it is like we are blind,
For giving us the power to see each day Hashem is so kind.

When we do not know what to do,
We can be considered blind too,
A decision we need to make,
But we can't see which path to take.

We must try,
To see beyond what meets the eye,
We can turn to Hashem to show us the way,
To guide us every day.

In this blessing, we thank Hashem for giving us clarity,
For opening the eyes of the blind to help us see,
Right and wrong we won't confuse,
The right decision we will choose!

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe,
Who has created me according to His will.

Jewish women were entrusted with a privilege and responsibility,
They are the foundation of their home and family.

Because of their unique mission, Some Mitzvot that have a time limitation,
Are not part of their obligation, Because of their twenty four/seven dedication.

Thank you for creating me according to His will, women say,
Because they are created in a unique way,

To fulfill Hashem's will comes natural to them,
They are happy to fulfill the will of Hashem!

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe,
Who has not made me a woman.

Jewish men were given an opportunity,
To observe all 613 Mitzvot are their responsibility,

Thank you for not making me a woman, the men say,
To serve Hashem with additional Mitzvot is their way.

In Mitzvah observance, women are in category number three,
Men were taken out of that category.

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe,
Who has not made me a servant.

Thank you Hashem for taking me out of the category of other nations,
Who have only 7 Mitzvot as obligations.

Thank you Hashem for taking me out of category number two,
A non Jewish slave, working for a Jew had more than 7 Mitzvot to do.

Now that there is no slavery,
What does this blessing have to do with me?

A person can feel like a slave for something he might desire,
But a Jew has the power to rise higher.

We can choose to be free,
With what we have we can be happy!

Our worries and fears we can overcome,
To reach our potential we have just begun!

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe,
Who has not made me a member of another nation

The Jews are a small minority, dispersed among every nation,
Who have faced persecution in every generation.

Instead of envying his non-Jewish neighbor,
The Jew makes a blessing of gratitude to his creator.

This gratitude comes from the realization,
That 613 Mitzvot were given to the Jewish nation.

Why not make the blessing in a positive way?
"Blessed...who made me a Jew," why don't we say?

The MAKING of a Jew is up to me and you,
It's not enough to be born as a Jew.

To live and act like a Jew is what we need to do,
To Hashem we choose to be loyal and true.

Blessed...who has not made me a member of another nation we say,
We will utilize our potential and act Jewish every day!

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe,
Who grants the rooster the  understanding to distinguish between day and night.

Hashem gave the rooster a gift,
To sense when the darkness will lift.

Right before dawn it begins to crow,
To distinguish between night and day it does know.

What lesson can I take, if I don't live on a farm,
And don't have roosters as my alarm?

In life there are many decisions to make,
Sometimes we don't know which path to take.

Just like the rooster can distinguish between day and night,
Hashem gives us the power to know wrong from right.

In this blessing, we thank Hashem for giving us a brain to use,
The right decision we can choose!

Blessed are you God our Lord, King of the universe, Who has sanctified us
with His commandments, and Who has commanded us regarding the words of Torah.

Before reading from the Torah there is a blessing to say,
It is also in our morning prayers every day,
Thank you Hashem for choosing us as your holy nation,
It is a great privilege and an obligation.

Hashem gave us the Torah, His most precious treasure,
Hashem choose that the Jewish nation will last forever,
Hashem's ambassadors we are meant to be,
Hashem is the creator, we teach all humanity to see.

During the Holocaust, when the world went mad,
The Jews were under the Nazi's command,
The Nazi's gave each Jew a blanket to share,
With 5 other inmates who were shivering with fear.

Each Jew who received a blanket a challenge did face,
Could they share even in such a terrible place?
Yes! The blankets they did share,
They spread the warmth because they cared.

Our mission is with kindness to treat,
Every person that we meet,
We were chosen to provide spiritual warmth for all,
With Jewish pride, we stand tall!

Torah Tziva

The Torah was commanded to us through Moshe.
It is an inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.

We are going on a boat far away,
We have brought so many things to enjoy our stay,
In our suitcases we each have a treasure,
Something so wonderful to have it is a pleasure.

Do you want to see what I hold so dear,
It is diamonds so brilliant and clear,
Your treasure can't compare,
To my coins so old and rare.

But look at my clothes so fancy and fine,
What about my jewelry they are totally mine,
Our treasures are surely the best,
Gold and money are better than the rest.

What about you, Where is your treasure?
Surely you don't have anything better,
I have something special more than money and gems,
It is the Torah I learn a gift from Hashem.

It is a treasure for every single Jew,
The holy words of Hashem for me and you,
Everyone laughed, it can't be true,
How could Torah be a treasure for you?

Surely money is better or fancy shoes,
Jewelry, diamonds something we could use,
But then pirates came, everyone cried,
They stole all the treasures they could find.

I am so lucky isn't it clear to see,
My treasure is still with me while yours was lost at sea,
More holy more special than jewels and gems,
Our precious Torah a gift from Hashem.

Al Netilat Yadayim

Blessed are you, L‑rd our G‑d, King of the universe, who has sanctified us
with His commandments, and commanded us concerning the washing of the hands.

As soon as we wake up "Modeh Ani" is said,
Even before we jump out of bed,
Then we use the water we prepared the night before,
Which is waiting on the bedroom floor.

We wash our hands in a special way,
But we don't say the blessing right away,
Once on the right, then once on the left we pour,
We do this twice more, now are hands are pure.

After we wash up and get dressed for the day,
We wash a second time in the same way,
"Al Netilat Yadayim," is the blessing we say,
We are ready to serve Hashem today.

There is another time this blessing is said,
When we wash our hands before eating bread,
This time we wash a bit differently,
We pour three times on our right hand consecutively,
Only then does our left hand get wet,
After pouring three times on the left we are set!

Modeh Ani

I offer thanks to You, living and eternal King,
for You have mercifully restored my soul within me; Your faithfulness is great.

A scuba diver likes to explore,
The fish and plants on the ocean floor,
He can swim for a mile,
But he has to come back up after a while.

His oxygen tank he needs to refill,
So that his mission he can fulfill,
We are like scuba divers who explore,
Bringing G-dliness into this world more and more.

We learn Torah and do Mitzvot galore,
Our Neshama soul is our oxygen tank for sure,
When we go to sleep at night,
Part of our Neshama takes flight.

It goes up to Hashem's throne,
To get recharged like a cell phone,
In the morning Modeh Ani is the first thing we say,
To thank Hashem for returning our Neshama every day.
